What a 3 weeks we've had!!
First of all, a huge thank you to all of the grown ups who came to watch our class assembly. It was so lovely to see so many of you there and be able to share all our hard work and learning with you. We hope you enjoyed watching it as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you.
Once that was finished we then began the huge task of learning songs and dances for our Christmas production. Don't forget to book your tickets for Thursday or Friday's shows!
Thanks to those of you who have sent their child's costume in to school. For those of you who haven't, please make sure it is in school on Monday for our first dress rehearsal.
English and Topic:
We have continued our theme of Festivals and Celebrations, looking at Thanksgiving, where it began and then writing about what we are thankful for.
Hanukkah was our next celebration and we learnt about why people celebrate it, who celebrates and how they celebrate. In Music we learnt some Hanukkah songs too.
We then moved on to Christmas, learning the Christmas story, ordering pictures and having a go at re writing the story. We wrote letters to Father Christmas telling him why we have been good this year and learnt a little bit about advent too.
We finished off our shape topic with 3D shapes - naming, describing and sorting them.
We moved back to addition for a while, trying to solve problems such as how many ways can you make 9 and we learnt to play a new game called 'shut the box'.
We have been learning to represent numbers in lots of different ways, using our fingers, counters, numicon, dice patterns and picture representations, matching these to number sentences.
Today we have been creative, making Christmas cards and decorations for our families. Unfortunately we were so busy making them that we forgot to take any photos. Sorry!
Miss Kerai is finishing her initial placement with us today. We thank her for all her hard work over the last 5 weeks. She will be back with us in March, 5 days a week for a much longer teaching practise. We look forward to seeing her then!
