In Meerkats class we have had a lovely few weeks getting to know one another. We have been thinking about our topic 'All About Me', exploring our new learning environment and discussing what it means to be in Year One.
In our phonics lesson we have been revisiting some of our sounds- ay, ee,igh, ow, oo and oo by practising sounding out words with these sounds in and applying these sounds in our spelling. In addition we have been doing lots of handwriting practice to ensure we are forming our letters correctly.
In our English lesson we have been focusing on our sentence writing and what we need to include to ensure we are writing a SUPER SENTENCE!!! We have been checking our work to make sure we have capital letters, finger spaces, full stops, our sounds, tricky words and writing neatly on the line.
Maths has involved a lot of practical work. We have been learning about subitising, number patterns and representing number in different ways. As well as this we have been using our reasoning skills to make sure we understand how we do something in maths. Don't forget to have a look at the subitising videos on YouTube as these are very helpful!!
WOW Meerkats we have done lots of learning so far this term! As well as this we have been doing self portraits of ourselves, had two amazing RE lessons with Mrs Bastaple about the creation story and Harvest, PE sessions with Game On and Mrs Charles and Music with Mrs Caperon.
I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and gets lots of rest for more learning next week in Meerkats class!!!!
