On your marks, get set, GO! The children's first sports week is here and what a week it was!
On Monday, we talked about what being active means, what sort of activities are active and how do we know we are being active! The children learnt that they should be active for 180 minutes of the day with 30 minutes of high intensity activities.
On Tuesday we had our first training session for the Olympics. The children had a go at archery. They really enioyed this activity and managed to hit the board (with some bulls eyes).
On Wednesday it was Sports Day, the children were amazing and I was very proud of them. They had a go at the different activities and were very patient with the waiting in between activities. I always get very nervous in front of all the parents so thank you for all being very supportive during the morning. Also, thank you for all the photographs which have been sent in after my iPad sat on the side for the whole morning.
On Thursday we had a house competition afternoon. The children took part in different types of relay races and enjoyed competing for their houses. Well done to 1. Water 2. Air and 3rd Fire and Earth.
On Friday we had a skateboard workshop. The children had to work as a team to help each other stay on the skateboard and move safely. After the children saying they didn't want to do it and they couldn't skate board I was so proud of their teamwork and confidence to do this activity.
Next week we have our trip to Bekonscot. This is a lovely first whole day trip for the children and we are looking forward to it. Please make sure children have a disposable lunch bag which is named, sun cream, sun hat and a coat (if necessary - check the weather!) Please be at school on time as we will be leaving promptly by coach.
As we are now entering the hot sunny weather please make sure that sun hats are in school EVERYDAY as well as a water bottle. Sun cream should be put on before school as although children can put sun cream on during the day this is not sufficient coverage as they are expected to do this independently.
Have a lovely weekend
