This week we celebrated Sports Week at school and took part in lots of exciting activities. We learned how to use a bow and arrow in an archery workshop this week. We also took part in a skateboarding workshop and learned how to safely stand on the skateboard and how to do some tricks.
On Wednesday we participated in our first Sports Day at Bushey and Oxhey Infants. We began the morning by completing a carousel of activities, which included throwing javelins, an egg and spoon race and football dribbling. We then had running races in our class group. We then had a picnic with our families before heading back to school for the afternoon.
This week we also read the story of Elmer. We looked at paintings of elephants and decided to paint our own. We looked carefully at the features of elephants and thought about how we would paint them. We all had a chance to paint an elephant and we had some fantastic results. We also decided to learn facts about elephants, including how they eat and drink and what their trunks are used for.
We are continuing to watch our beans grow this week. They have now grown quite tall and will need to be planted soon. We hope to visit our school allotment plot on Monday morning to plant them.
Next Tuesday we will be going on our school trip to Beckonscot. The children should be dropped to school as normal on that day with their packed lunches. Please include a named, disposable lunch. The coach will be leaving soon after register has been taken, and then we aim to be back for the end of the school day. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the day and is wearing suncream and sun hat if needed.
