What an exciting week we have just had! OR class were really inspired by our Science in Sports Week, even coming up with their own science investigations to test out. After attending assembly on Monday morning, the children were eager to carry out their own tests. One child wanted to test whether it was faster to run down a hill, or cycle down a hill. We predicted what would happen, then tested it out. We were surprised to find that running down the hill was faster. We also conducted other experiments this week, including whether a child running could reach a certain point faster than a ball that had been kicked, and finding out which was our dominant eye.
To continue on with our investigation theme, the children asked if they could make boats to add to our water trays. We used various materials and designs for our boats, then tested them on the water. The children's questioning and reasoning during the week was fantastic!
On Monday we had a sun safety talk. We learned about the positive and negative impacts of the sun on our bodies, and discussed ways of keeping safe in the sunny weather. This workshop really came in useful for our Sports Day on Wednesday!
Well done OR class for a fantastic week of learning.
