Another busy week in Elephants with lots of class assembly practise (don't forget to come and watch us in action on Wednesday 22nd at 9am - straight after reading morning) and getting some practise in for The Great British Bake off 2030!!!
We worked on Handa's surprise this week, learning the story and retelling it in our own words. We tried to add in more adjectives to make it more interesting and descriptive.
This week we have focussed on 2D shape. We have drawn them, named them, described them, compared and sorted them. We even tried to use words like regular and irregular, equilateral and vertices when describing shapes. We'll be ready for Year 2 in no time...
We discussed birthday traditions from around the world in our topic lessons and compared them to how we celebrate. Some of our favourites included Canada (this involved butter), China (this involved noodles) and Brazil (this was about your ears!). We learnt lots of very interesting things. Ask your children if they can remember any of them...
Thursday and Friday was getting ready for the bake sale. We cooked our cakes from scratch (with the help of Mrs Liquori) and then iced and decorated them ready to sell. Unfortunately, we were so busy enjoying it all that I forgot to take any photos! I guess we'll just have to do some more cooking in school so I can get some photos next time!!
Thanks to your very generous donations, Elephants class managed to raise £47.26 just from our cake sale alone. Thank you to all those who came and brought some cakes. We hope you enjoyed eating them as much as we enjoyed making them.
Stars of the Day:
This week Zelic and Lewand were our stars of the day. Well done boys.
The whole class have been working really hard and we all ended up on the Ray of Sunshine twice this week, with some even making it to the Rainbow. Good work Elephants!
