Proud to be part of Bushey Primary Education Federation Federation Headteacher: Mrs M Cooper MA NPQH

Week 9: 11th March 2019

Run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch us we're Parrot class!!

This week we have been reading The Gingerbread Man. The children have enjoyed the story and have been practising retelling this story. They have been writing a 'story s' and their favourite scenes from the story (They loved the part where the Gingerbread Man gets eaten! what a surprise! ). They have also been making puppets to help them retell the story.

In Maths we have been continuing to practise subtraction. The children have been talking about what they have done in their calculation showing good understanding of the concept of taking away.

This week the children have had three PE sessions. The first one was because of the wet and windy day on Tuesday. We went into the hall and played some relay games, involved egg and spoons, balancing and co-ordination. Fantastic watching and listening. The second was their weekly session with our coach where they practised moving in different ways. Finally Mrs Charles continued gymnastics where we looked at two different types of rolls. Fantastic PE this week.

Over the last few weeks we have been trialling a key person system in the class and we feel it has been very successful. Both myself and Mrs Forty will have half the class for two week. We will be working with this half of the class on all focus tasks as well as working on their next steps. The children have been introduced to this and will know which adult is their key person for that week. It is now displayed in the classroom so as parents you will know too (we are beginning the first of the next two week cycle on Monday). The children are split alphabetically by first name. Although these are focus children we will still be supporting and working with all children throughout the week too. This is an exciting change we have made and so far have seen a huge impact on the children's learning and the school day.

Hope you have a lovely week
