This week we focused on the story of The Gingerbread Man. Our focus was on being able to retell the story, without using any pictures or props.
We thought about other ways that the gingerbread man could have crossed the river. We thought that maybe he could have walked over a bridge. We then worked together to make a bridge using junk modelling materials. We made other props including gingerbread men so that we could retell the story in the small world tray.
In maths we have been focusing on subtraction. We counted out disks onto ten frames and then rolled a dice to work out how many to take away. We then recorded our work on ten frames. Many children are now confidently recording their work in this way.
On Friday the children wore red for Comic Relief. The children shared many of their jokes today. Thank you for all of your donations for this cause.
For the next three weeks at school we are going to be learning about people who help us. Next week we will be learning about the job of firefighters. We will be visiting Watford Fire Station on Thursday 21st March. To be able to go on this trip we still need more parents to volunteer to come with us. If you are available to come please let Miss Tarrant or Mrs. Dunne know as soon as possible.
Have a lovely weekend Toucan Class.
