The children have completed their first half term at school, WOW!!
The final week was definitely a busy one. The children went on their first trip to the park. The morning started with 30 very excited children talking non-stop about going to the park. The children walked down to the park very sensibly and safely. We were all very proud of how well they listened and crossed roads. When we arrived at the park the children were very excited to complete their checklists of things they could see and collect lots of interesting autumn items. They came back to school full of stories about their trip which they proudly told Jo the Cook and the SMSAs at lunchtime. In the afternoon lots of children were inspired to write about the trip and create a large piece of artwork using all the items they had collected. A huge thank you to all the parents and grandparents who accompanied us - because of you the children had a great morning out.
This week involved lots of practise for our Harvest Assembly. The children had their first assembly where they would sing their own class song in front of an audience. I was super proud of them and they did so well (even though lots were very tired!) Thank you for your donations for the Red Trust food bank and the beautifully decorated boxes.
On Friday my usual Parrots seemed to have gone on an early half term and instead my class was full of vampires, skeletons and witches. We had a fantastic day making pumpkin crafts and having our class celebration afternoon. The children could choose between two favourite Julia Donaldson movies, The Gruffalo and Room on a Broom. They really enjoyed having a lovely afternoon watching a movie.
Jo the Cook made a yummy surprise for us. She sneakily took the pumpkins from our classroom and made all the children delicious Pumpkin Soup. Thank you to Jo for her hard work. Lots of the children loved the soup (some were less keen! Sorry Jo).
This week Parrots had to nominate two School Council members. We talked about the importance of voting and how it works. The children who wanted to stand for school council gave some of their ideas about what they would do if elected. The children then had the chance to vote for two children. The children elected were Huxley and Florence. So congratulations to both of them.
Over half term

Wishing you a very happy and restful half term and we will see you on Monday 5th November.
