This week we continued with our growing topic. We have begun to make bean diaries to track the progress of our beans as they grow. Many of them have now grown roots and shoots, and we are keeping a close eye on them every day.
We read the story of Jack and the Beanstalk this week, as the children had asked to read this. We read up until the point where Jack climbs the beanstalk and then stopped. We thought about what could be at the top of the beanstalk this time. The children used their imaginations to come up with lots of interesting ideas and wrote these down.
We painted and drew pictures of scenes from Jack and the Beanstalk. Later in the week we made collages of Jack and the Beanstalk pictures. We used various resources available in the creative area to make our collages, thinking carefully of what would be best to use for each part of the picture.
In Relax Kids this week we spoke about emotions again. This week we focused on the feeling of being worried, and what we should do when we have a worry. We know that there are lots of adults we can speak to when we are feeling worried about anything.
Next week will be Sports Week at school. There are various activities planned throughout the week, including our Sports Day on Wednesday. PE kits will be sent home on Tuesday on so that the children can come to school dressed in their kits on Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday staff will walk children up to Bushey Manor’s field, where the children will take part in a carousel of activities. We will be moving around to each activity in our class group, and parents are welcome to follow us around as we doing them. We will all then participate in races, before we have our picnics for lunch. After lunch children will come back to school and will be picked up at the normal time from the classroom door.
Have a lovely weekend Toucan Class.
