This week we looked at the life cycle of a butterfly. In literacy we drew and labelled our own life cycles. We ready the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and we created our own Hungry Caterpillar books, imagining other foods that the caterpillar could eat.
In maths we worked on subtraction, and recording our calculations. We also looked at halving and sharing, using objects and also fruit. In phonics we continued to revise all of the sounds we have learned, and practising to write them.
We made our own butterflies this week, by drawing half of a butterfly, and cutting out the other half. We learned about symmetry, and worked carefully to colour our butterflies symmetrically.
On Thursday Ava's dad called in to play the clarinet for us. He played music which made us think of butterflies. We even made our own butterfly song at the end of the session. We finished off our week by watching a performance of The Railway Children, which we all agreed was great!
