This week in Toucan class we looked at the story The Gruffalo. We thought about the types of food that the Gruffalo might like to eat. We drew pictures of those foods and then labelled them.
In phonics we learned the sounds t, i and n. We are working on blending sounds together to read simple words. Three more sounds have been added to your child’s sound tag. Please practise these with your child.
In maths we introduced number of the day. We counted it, found it on a numberline, drew that number of objects, and worked out one more and one less than that number. We talked about the many ways that we could represent this number.
Unfortunately, due to the bad weather last weekend, we were unable to go on our trip to the park on Tuesday. However, we are hoping that we will be able to make our trip to the park next Tuesday October 23rd. We will let you know in advance whether or not we will be going.
Thank you for all of the cooking and baking photos that you have sent in during the week. The children have enjoyed talking about what they have made, and sharing their pictures with the class.
This week the children have been eager to have an adult write stories that they have made up. The children have thought of all of the ideas, and the adult has written exactly what the children have said. The children were encouraged to draw their own illustrations for their stories. If your child would like to make up their own story this weekend, we would love to share them with the class next week. This would be a great opportunity for your child to developing their story telling ability, which they are also building through their reading books.
