Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful half term. What a shame the nice weather didn’t stick around this week…
We decided we are enjoying our topic of ‘A Day at the Seaside’ so much that we are carrying it on this term too. We will later link it in to Julia Donaldson texts and will have a Science focus of minibeasts and plants.
This week we looked at Pirates a bit more and shares a story called ‘Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs’ in English. We acted it out and made story boards to help us remember what happens in the beginning, middle and end of the story. Yesterday and today we spent our English lessons re writing the story ourselves, trying to include adjectives, exclamation marks and question marks. We worked so hard on our story writing and produced some of our best work so far this year! We had a go at editing too, trying to improve our work but finding things we had missed out.
We started our Maths learning with a quick recap on repeated addition and arrays before moving on to doubles. We played some fun games to practise our doubling, using counters, dice, rulers and Cuisenaire rods. We are all really good at doubles to 6 but it gets a little tricky after that. We will keep practising as this is a good skill to have ready for our move to year 2!
