Week 6 22.5.17

O2 have had a wonderful final week of the half term.

This week we continued to look at the story of ‘Zeraffa Giraffa’. We read a little more of the story as a class and thought about the journey that Zeraffa took to get to France. We looked in detail at one of the illustrations in the book showing the journey down the River Nile and then wrote a recount of what Zeraffa would see, hear and feel along the way. We described the pyramids, the markets and the Sphinx and tried to make the reader feel like they were on the boat with Zeraffa throughout her journey.

Next, we continued to read the rest of the story. We then focused on the order of events, and drew story maps to show what happened at the beginning, middle and end. We then used these story maps to write paragraphs to retell the six main parts of the story.

Also this week, we enjoyed a fun afternoon of games with Mr Lazarra in our class house competition on Wednesday. We were taught how to play handball and were split into house teams for an exciting tournament! We all thoroughly enjoyed playing a new sport and impressed Miss Horton with our team spirit and fairness. We also had time to practise our country dancing this week as one of our final practices before performing at the OVEG fair at the beginning of June.

On Wednesday, we were excited to welcome a celebrity drummer from Status Quo who came to tell us all about playing the drums. He showed us many different varieties of drum and we enjoyed watching some of our friends having a go at playing them! We then all got a chance to join in with Jeff playing different percussion instruments in time to the music.

Finally, we had a wonderful time in our class celebration; a trip to the park! We loved playing with our friends and were happy that the weather stayed sunny for us to enjoy our well- earned celebration!

Well done on a very busy but exciting half term O2- we are very proud of you!
