Our topic has continued over the last two weeks, with learning about the Great Fire of London. We found out how the fire started, learnt about features of letter and then used this learning to write letters to King Charles II from Thomas Farriner apologising for starting the fire. We then found out what happened over the following few days, why the fire spread so much and how the fire ended.
Our Maths learning has moved on from Number bonds to 20, to halving and then subtraction. We practised starting with a two digit number and subtracting a one digit number, then subtracting a two digit number. Then we tried using our knowledge of 'exchanging' to subtract crossing over the tens barrier. We used Base 10 to support this learning and looked at ways we could record it pictorially too. The whole class are really getting the hang of it now. They have loved playing the exchange game too! You could always play this with some counters and a die at home. They will be able to explain the rules.
Our week also consisted of lots of practise for our class assembly. Thank you for supporting your child in learning their lines for this. But also thank you so much for giving up your time to come and watch your child perform. They loved having you all there and told me how proud of themselves they felt afterwards! I was very proud too!!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
Next week is a busy one with our school trip on Tuesday. Because of this, our spelling test will be happening on Wednesday morning next week.
