I would like to thank my lovely Parrot class for being amazing this week - lots of changes occurred this week and they coped amazingly well.
On Monday we finished off our previous weeks learning (website has been updated too) which we missed due to the snow on Friday. The children had really enjoyed their topic on Senses and I wanted to make sure they finished off this topic.
On Tuesday and Wednesday we learnt about Chinese New Year. The story always engages children and is something they really enjoy hearing. Some children even went off and re-enacted the story with our small world creatures. The children enjoyed creative activities such as Chinese writing, making lanterns and dragons.
On Thursday and Friday the children started looking at our topic for the next week - Space. We have an expert on this topic in our class and thank you to Thomas for sharing facts (and correcting some of my own misconceptions of space!!). In writing the children have been thinking about what they would take to space inspired by the story 'Whatever Next' and in Maths have been practising weighing 'space rocks' and using the vocabulary heavy/heavier and light/lighter We will be continuing this topic next week.
I hope you have had a restful weekend. I know lots of children have been off or unwell with coughs, colds and stomach bugs (myself included) and I hope they are now starting to feel better and are ready for a busy week before half term.
