Week 5 - 3.10.2016

This week in OR class we have been continuing our 'All about me' topic. We discussed the foods that we like, and on Wednesday we made our own pizzas. We helped to make the dough, then we all rolled out our own pizza dough, and added sauce and toppings. We cooked them in the school ovens, and enjoyed them after school.

Some children in BR class created a story about a giant and a humongous pizza. So during literacy this week, OR class decided to create an ending for the story, then we all acted it out together.

We learned the sounds d, t, and i in our phonics sessions. We have also learned our first three red words (tricky words).

In maths this week we have been learning about 2D shapes. We looked at various pictures and tried to spot shapes within them. We also searched around the classroom to find 2D shapes.

We have had 5 stars of the day this week! On Monday Oscar was our star of the day, for enthusiastically joining in during carpet sessions. On Tuesday Christian was our star of the day, for being kind and helpful to another child. Méabh was our star of the day on Wednesday for being very helpful in creating our new role play. Kylan was our star of the day on Thursday for sharing some fantastic ideas for our story about the giant. Today Alexia was our star of the day for bringing in and sharing some fantastic home learning.

Next week we will be learning about healthy foods. As part of this, we are asking children to please bring in any unusual fruits they can find so that we can all try them.
