In our topic "All About Me" we have been learning about what we like to eat. We made pizzas, all of us choosing our own ingredients, mixing the dough, cutting the vegetables and laying them carefully on the pizza. It was amazing how different the pizzas looked with the same ingredients!
We also made a humongous class collage of a pizza and then imagined what it would be like if a giant ate the giant pizza. We then discussed and developed a group story involving a giant and pizza using fantastic imagination and language. The next day we then created a stage outside, acted out the story and took photographs which are soon to go up in the Hall.
In phonics we have been hunting in the classroom and outside for objects that start with various initial sounds. The children have added new sounds to their sound books and have tricky word strings to learn and practice.
In Maths this week we have been looking at 2D shapes and identifying them in the environment. We hadn't realised just how many rectangles there are in the classroom and outside in the Nursery area.
Our Stars of the Day this week have been Tyla for her wonderful pictures of shapes and added labels, George S for hunting and finding many objects on our Phonics Hunt and Leo for his individual story of a pizza who was cooked and eaten by the Man in the Sun! Congratulations to Tyla, George S and Leo!
Next week we are learning about healthy foods and would be grateful if any unusual fruits could be brought in for the children to taste.
