This week we started our learning off by looking at using maps to learn about our 7 continents and the five oceans that we can see on our map of the world. The Meerkats learnt what a continent was and labelled a map of the world. We then went on to discuss which continents we had all been too and the ones we would like to go to in the future.
In Topic we learnt about Pirates. We learnt about the history of pirates and the different jobs that pirates would have on board our ship. We spoke and wrote about what it would be like to be a pirate, in particular the things we would enjoy and the things that we would not.
In Art this week we designed and created our own pirate hat with our own logo on as well as labelling it with our pirate name which we created using the pirate name generator. Later on in the week we created our own pirate flag with our own design. The Meerkats created these using wax crayons and water colours.
In Maths this week we have continued to think about repeated addition. We have begun looking at how we can visually represent this, using arrays to help us solve our repeated addition number sentence. Then we looked at how we can describe these visual representations using language such as lots of and groups of, beginning to think about multiplication.
On Wednesday we were lucky enough to have our sponsored bounce!! The Meerkats were very energetic and each bounced continuously for three minutes!! Well done Meerkats you did very well.
Well done Meerkats on another fabulous half term, make sure you enjoy the half term and have lots of fun!!!! I look forward to seeing you all on the first Monday back.
