This week the children continued their under the sea topic. The children have been involved in lots of creative activities making jellyfish, fish and crabs. They have been showing all their different skills such as cutting, gluing and sellotaping.
The summer weather definitely inspired the children this week with them suddenly talking about ice-creams. They said they wanted to have ice-cream at school. As the Early Years curriculum is all about the children's interest I agreed however they had to prove to Mrs Cooper that they had used ice-creams to inspire lots of learning in the classroom. They definitely did this. The children learnt to tally and practised counting in 5s to survey which flavour ice-creams were the favourites. They created ice-creams in the creative area and put them on a bar chart to compare. They wrote about their favourite ice-creams and we talked about money to create a price list. As promised the children enjoyed their well earned ice lollies on Friday afternoon.
On Friday the children also had their Reception photograph. They all looked really smart and listened very well to the instructions from the photographer and Mrs Liquori.
