This week we continued our Under the Sea topic. We read the story of Fidgety Fish, which introduced us to many sea creatures. We talked about our favourite sea creatures, and why we liked them. We then wrote sentences about them, using ‘because’ to extend our sentences.
In the creative area we made our own sea creatures, using various materials. We thought about how we could add tentacles to our octopus, and what shape we needed to cut out to make our jellyfish. We also completed our underwater scenes. We added sea creatures and seaweed to our paintings. We drew them first, and then cut them out to stick on to our pictures.
We have really been enjoying the restaurant this week. Many children wrote their own menus for our restaurant. We also learned about money, with many children adding prices to their menus. We learned about the various coins we could us, and worked out which coins we needed to pay for our meals.
Next week is ‘Walk to School Week’, so we will be encouraging the children to walk to and from school as often as possible next week. Each day they will be able to add a sticker to our special chart. We hope that many families take part in this challenge next week.
