Jack and the Beanstalk:
We had a busy week with this story. We sequenced pictures from it, acted it out in groups and performed it to the class and made story maps. We thought about whether we would like to be the Giant or Jack from the story and wrote about which character we chose and why, using the connective 'because'.
We enjoyed reading this story and watching videos from Prince Charming's Ball at the Palace. We focussed on sentence writing this week and what features we need to remember when we are writing in sentences.
Then we decided to write you all a letter and post it home to you, just like all the characters did in the story of The Jolly Postman. We wrote our letters and then went out for a walk to post them at the local post box. When we got back, we ordered the photos of our walk and then wrote a recount using words like 'first', 'next', 'then' and 'finally'.
We hope you had a lovely surprise when the postman delivered your post and that you enjoyed reading our lovely letters.
We have been looking at ordering and comparing objects by length and height. We spoke about the language we would use (long, tall, short, longer, taller, shortest) and used resources around the classroom to make these comparisons.
Who is the tallest in your house? Who is the shortest? Who is taller than you?
We also started to look at the number bonds to 10, adding 2 numbers to make an amount 10. And looked at how many ways we could do this. We used practical resources such as Numicon, tens frames and cubes.
