We used 'Traction Man' as our focus in English. We read the story, acted it out and then wrote about our favourite parts. We then used characters and settings from it to practise writing descriptions.
We also looked at rhyming words and had a go at writing our own Superhero poems.
In Maths we have been looking at teen numbers and beyond, using Base 10 to help us represent the tens and ones in a number and then partitioning them using part-whole models. Today we used all of this learning to carry out an investigation and see how many numbers we could make using only 8 pieces of Base 10. We then looked at the biggest number we could make and the smallest number, explaining how we worked it out and how we know our answer is correct.
We carried out another investigation in Science around waterproof materials. We made predictions, planned our investigation, carried it out and wrote a conclusion too. Then we finished of our materials topic by re sorting the materials using all of our new learning.
We have been doing lots of Art these past two weeks as well. We were inspired by pop art and made our own onomatopoeia pop art. We used Van Gogh's 'A Starry Night' to inspire some Superhero skyscraper scenes and we made our own superhero mask too.
On Tuesday it was Chinese New Year, so we learnt about traditions and ways that people celebrate, using Ryan as our expert. We made Chinese dragons too.
And we looked at toys in History, thinking about similarities and differences between old and new toys and artefacts.
