This week in Dolphins we have been learning...
Maths: In maths we have been looking at regrouping two digit numbers and exchanging ten ones for one ten. This has been lots of fun and has really got our brains working. We also revised our number bonds to 10 and practised playing games using these number bonds. Then looking at the patterns in these number bonds we looked at our number bonds to 20 and the similarities between the two.
Literacy: This week we learnt about contractions and what happens when we combine two words to shorten them. We practised making these words and thought about where we needed an apostrophe. We have also been learning about the Plague and have created leaflets explaining the symptoms, how to avoid the plague ( according to the Tudors) and what a plague doctor would have looked like. This has been lots of fun and we have even learnt a song about the plague which is both fun and gross!
Topic: In music this week we have continued to learn about Tudor music and the different popular instruments of the time. We have also had feeling good day this week in which we spent time thinking about the things that make us feel good about ourselves. As part of feeling good week we created 'feel good flowers' where we complimented each other and learnt a new skill in art, creating autumn pictures using a straw and ink to create the twisting branches of the trees. In science we looked at the suitability of different materials and why some materials are better for different uses than others.
Next week we will be looking the Great fire of London and we will start to look at halving and subtraction in maths.
