In Maths this week we have been looking at counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. We have looked at ways in which we can remember how to count in these sequences. We have also looked at how we can spot mistakes and patterns in number sequences. We have then used this knowledge to begin to think about repeated addition (2+2+2+2=8).
In Topic this week we have continued our learning about the history of the seaside. We started by recapping all of the information that we could remember and had learnt from our seaside workshop. We then designed and made our own fact file book about the seaside in the Victorian era so that we could inform others of all the information we had learnt. Our fact file included information on how people would get to the seaside, the sorts of clothing that would be worn by ladies, men and children as well as the entertainment that would have been available for people at the seaside. The Meerkats had remembered SO many facts about the seaside in the past.
In Phonics this week we have recapped the alternative ir sounds (er,ur), ire and ure. We have looked at these sounds in real and alien words.
Carrying on our topic of the seaside we created our own watercolour pictures of the seaside. Then we stuck on silhouettes of things that we might find at the seaside.
On Tuesday afternoon we went up to Bushey Manor to have a fun filled afternoon with another school where we took part in a number of different sporting activities. The Meerkats enjoyed all the activities and got to show off their sporting skills to myself and Mrs Liquori who were very impressed!!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing you next week.
