Week 3: 30th April 2018

This week Aliens came to Badger Class.

We shared the books Aliens Love Underpants and Aliens save the Universe at the beginning of the week. The children did lots of Alien crafts including painting their own Alien and creating their own Alien spacecraft. Their paintings are showing how much they have developed over the year and they are now thinking about the colours they want to use and controlling the paintbrush to paint their Alien.

In Maths we have been learning about doubles. We have been using objects and then doubling them by using the mirror and counting how many we have all together. The children have been listening to songs on youtube and some of the children have been able to remember and recite their doubles.

In writing the children have been thinking about where they would take an Alien if they came to visit earth. The children thought of lovely ideas such as the beach, the park, their own house and even their birthday party. I think any aliens who came to visit would love to become friends with a child from Badgers Class.

A focus this week has been on computing. The children have been exploring a program called Mini Mash, which is part of Purple Mash. They have been using a mouse or the interactive whiteboard to navigate the program and complete activities such as composing their own music piece, painting picture and completing puzzles. We also shared a computing robot called a 'beebot' which helps the children to begin to think about coding and programming.

I hope all the children enjoyed their extra special day off of Thursday due to the local elections taking place. We talked about why there were elections and what grown ups were doing on this day. Some children said that they had accompanied their parents to the polling booths during the day.

Monday is Bank Holiday so the school will be closed. I hope you have a lovely long weekend and enjoy the 'promised' sunshine.
