Wow what a week this has been! We begun by learning about seaside holidays in the past, looking at travel, clothes, entertainment and leaning lots of other fascinating facts. We watched videos with old footage and photos and used non-fiction seaside books to make notes and record information about the past. We then used this information to make our own fact files which are nearly finished and will soon be up on display in our class room!
We also continued to use Base 10 in Maths, using and counting in tens and ones to add two numbers together. We found it easier to add the ones first so that we could exchange any groups of ten. We also begun to learn about money, recognising and identifying coins to £2 and then sorting them into groups e.g. colour, size, value and then ordering them according to value. A great start at learning about money.
We ended the week, with our amazing History off the page – seaside day, please take a look at our photos. We had an amazing day! In the morning, we were very busy; making train tickets, counting and collecting money from the bank to spend at the seaside. We could then choose from a range of activities from flag making to creating shell souvenir boxes and training the waiters and waitresses at the café. Then in the afternoon, Elephant class boarded the train to the pier whilst we lead the stalls selling fish and chips, souvenirs, serving in the café and playing games. We then swapped over, spending our pennies wisely! We had a really lovely day, learning lots and making some fantastic memories.
Well done Tigers, have a lovely long weekend!
