We based our learning this week on the story ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ by Michael Rosen. We read the story and then used a Story S to put the story in order. Children were encouraged to label the pictures they had drawn.
We made a cave for the bear using some junk modelling materials. We worked together to build it and then decorated it the following day. We then made more props for our small world area, including the forest, mud and the bed for the family. We also made our own puppets so that we could retell the story using the props we had made. We enjoyed acting our the story with our friends.
We decided to have a teddy bear picnic at the end of the week. On Tuesday we wrote invitations for our teddy, asking them to come to school with us on Friday. We made a list of the things we thought we should bring to the picnic. On Friday morning we got ready for our picnic by making our own sandwiches. After our celebration assembly in the afternoon, we set up our picnic in the hall. We enjoyed munching on the sandwiches we had made earlier, and playing games with our teddies. We had a great afternoon!
We have had a lovely week of learning in Toucan Class. Well done everyone!
