We have really kicked off our new topic this week, with lots of fun and creative activities!
On Monday we had a DT focus as we actually made our own veg hero, using our plans from last week. We choose appropriate resources and materials and made all the important things a superhero needs before attaching them on to our chosen veg. We hope you liked them!
In English we had a look at the features of instructions including imperative verbs and time adverbials. See if your children can remember what they mean! Then we wrote a set of instructions to help people if they want to have a go at turning a vegetable in to a superhero!
We became detectives in Science. After talking about the properties of different materials (paper, wood, plastic, glass, metal and fabric) we went on a hunt around school to see where we could spot the different materials and then we found and recorded what objects in our classroom were made of. We are very good at knowing which material, and working hard to remember some great words to describe their properties.
In Maths, we recapped our learning around addition and then began to link this to the process of subtraction. We used practical resources to practise this.
Next week's learning...
We will be continuing to look at subtraction in Maths.
Continuing our Superhero theme, we will be rewriting the story of 'Supertato'.
Our Science learning will include making predictions and investigating to build upon what we have already learnt.
We have also got a special visit from a martial arts expert who will be giving us some tips in a PE lesson on Thursday morning.
