Can you believe it is our last full week at school? The year has gone so fast and the children are looking so grownup! They have all done so fantastically well this year and have learnt so much, developed skills and formed friendships.
This week Miss Caperon had organised a Gamelan workshop which is an instrument which originated from Indonesia. The children all learnt a rhythm which would help them play a simple song on these instruments. They listened well as they built up each part of the song using the different types of instruments. At the end they played the song altogether which sounded brilliant. Such talented children to learn a song in such as short space of time.
The rest of the week we used the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' as a stimulus. We retold the story and used it to inspire some writing. The children enjoyed painting the different types of fruits in the creative area.
In Maths we looked at number bonds and began to think about different ways of making 10. These are key facts for children to know to help them sole mathematical problems ( an idea for the summer maybe!)
On Thursday it was transition day. The children were very excited to be in Mrs Smart's Class (currently known as Miss Horton). They had a super morning and came back with the name Kangaroo class (I hope that's right). They are all so ready for Year 1 and I believe they will have a brilliant year.
Our last week done and dusted. Three days to go! Please remember to return library books and reading books/records on Monday as these will be kept at school over the summer. PE must go home and returned in September. Your child's journal will go home next week although I do need to keep three for a little while but I promise they will be returned to you eventually.
Have a lovely weekend
