On Monday we had a fantastic Gamelan workshop organised by Ms. Caperon. We learned about these Indonesian instruments and how they must all be played together. We song a Gamelan song and had to play the instruments at certain intervals.
This week we looked at the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We made our own zig zag books and retold the story in these. We explored clay this week and manipulated it to make our own caterpillars and butterflies. Next we will paint them before we take them home.
We had our final Relax Kids session this week. Again we talked about our feelings, and how we could demonstrate them. The children have really enjoyed these sessions over the part term. Each child received a certificate and a motivational card on Thursday.
The children met their new teacher on Thursday morning and spent the morning in their new classroom, learning the routines of Year One. They drew pictures of things they were interested in so that Miss Neulaender could find out more about them. They also voted on the name of their class and they will find out the result very soon.
Many of the children have now returned their school library books. If your child has not returned their book please bring it in next week. On Monday we will be collecting the children’s reading books and reading records. These will be kept at school and handed up to Miss Neulaender ready to be given out again in September.
Have a lovely weekend Toucan Class.
