This week we continued with our topic of ‘People who help us’. On Tuesday, Harry’s Nan kindly came in to visit us. She is a paramedic and she came to talk to us about the job that she does. She brought an ambulance with her and we all got a chance to climb on board and find out what they have inside there. Afterwards the children drew pictures and wrote sentences about what they had seen on the ambulance.
The children really enjoyed this experience and had many questions for her including where she keeps her packed lunch! We would all like to thank Harry’s Nan for giving up her time to come in and talk to us.
On Wednesday we had our Spring Assemblies. The children did us proud by singing our class song and also joining in with the whole school songs. It was lovely to have so many parents and grandparents coming to see us on that day.
In maths this week we have been learning about doubling. We learned that doubling is adding together two groups with the same number of objects in each. We used Numicon to double numbers and work out the answers, and we recorded what we did.
In PE this week we continued our gymnastics strand. We used equipment and travelled on benches in various ways. We learned how to balance and how to jump carefully from equipment, landing appropriately.
On Friday afternoon we visited the allotments and visited Zara's plot. Zara's Mummy helped us to dig up some of their rhubarb and carrots. We are all looking forward to getting our school plot and going back to help out there.
Next week we will finish up our topic of people who help us. On Monday afternoon we will be having a visit from a police officer who is coming in to talk to us about his job. We will also be learning about the festival of Easter and why it is celebrated.
