Week 11 21.11.16

This week we were visited by our very own Lollipop man! Children asked some inquisitive questions and were able to put into practise what they had learned to then go outside and practice their own Road Safety.

We have been learning about Firefighters, reading non-fiction books about their responsibilities and their typical working day. We have been using the small world Fire Engines to play out the roles. Children have been writing about stories about Firefighters. Today the Police come to visit so we have also been learning about the police and preparing questions to ask.

In phonics this week we have been learning the sounds "v" and "y" and continuing learning our tricky words. We talked about vultures and the children were very interested to learn about their eating habits! We made our own paper vultures and outside the children constructed vulture nests, finding various animals that the birds could eat!

In Maths this week some of the children have been looking at 2D shapes and spotting these shapes in our outdoor environment. We have been working on subtraction activities, understanding different expressions that mean subtract.
