I would like to start by saying HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all and I hope you had a fabulous Christmas with your friends and family. I would also like to say a huge THANK YOU for all of your lovely gifts and cards, I am really grateful and appreciative.
We have started our new topic for this half term of 'SUPERHEROS'. We started off by discussing the characteristics of a superhero and then we wrote about who our heroes are. Lots of children said their heroes were their mums, dads, siblings and Harry Kane!!!!!!!
We then went on to read the story of 'Supertato' and then we designed our own superveg by sketching and labelling. Then we thought about how we are going to make our superveg and all the materials we are going to need.
In Maths we finished off our learning around 3D shape. Then we moved on to looking at whole numbers and the parts that make the whole. This then lead on to addition and the process behind it, where we were using tens frames, part-whole models and writing number sentences.
In Phonics we revisited those split digraphs that we looked at before Christmas to refresh our memories.
Next week's learning...
We will be using our learning around addition from this week to support our exploring of subtraction in Maths.
We have lots of fun DT, Art and ICT activities planned, linking in to our learning around 'Supertato'.
We will be looking at features of, and then writing our own set of instructions.
Our Science focus this term is materials, where will begin with exploring and sorting them
Have a lovely weekend and well done Meerkats for a great first week back!!!
