First of all I would like to say welcome back to you all. I hope you all had a wonderful break and made lots of lovely memories with your families. The children have really enjoyed sharing their holiday news with the class and it has been so nice to see lots of photos, pictures and memorabilia from their various trips, days out and holidays. Secondly I would like to say a huge thank you for all the extremely generous and thoughtful cards and gifts I received at the end of last term.
We have started off our new topic this term of 'Superheroes'. The children are already very excited about what we have to come this term and I can't wait either! We thought about what makes a hero and then who are heroes are. Many of them picked their mums, dads and siblings as their heroes for a variety of reasons but it shows how much they love and appreciate you all!
We read the story of 'Supertato' and then began to design our own superveg characters, sketching them, labelling them and then thinking about what we could make the items out of.
We finished off our learning around 3D shape to start this weeks Maths learning and then moved on to looking at whole numbers and the parts that make the whole. This then lead on to addition and the process behind it, where we were using tens frames, part-whole models and writing number sentences.
In Phonics, we recapped the split digraph sounds from last half term, reading and applying them in words.
Next week's learning...
We will be using our learning around addition from this week to support our exploring of subtraction in Maths.
We have lots of fun DT, Art and ICT activities planned, linking in to our learning around 'Supertato'.
We will be looking at features of, and then writing our own set of instructions.
Our Science focus this term is materials, where will begin with exploring and sorting them.
