This week has seen the start of a new school year in class O1 and we are happy to welcome all of our Little Learners to the room. It has been a full on week and the children have settled in well.
The children began by drawing some fabulous pictures of what they had done during their Summer break and then writing all about them in their new literacy books. There was some excellent work and the children enjoyed telling each other of their experiences.
During Maths the children have been focusing on number ordering and even created their own number lines to use in class. We then used various resources to work out 1 more than answers to write down. The children enjoyed taking part in a game with the random number generator and working as a team to find the answer.
This week has seen the class recap some of the phonic sounds that they have learnt in reception and we have been working very hard to form letters and numbers correctly during our handwriting sessions.
The children have also enjoyed their first PE session and over the term we will be focusing on gymnastics. They have also enjoyed some well deserved CIL time in the afternoons and had fun exploring the new room.
Finally, O1 have been getting used to the new behaviour policy implemented in the school and they are adapting well to it. It may take time but it will benefit their ability to learn long term. This can be located in the policies link on the site.
