Welcome back! We are into the final term. How did that happen? The children came back with lovely haircuts and I'm sure they have grown. Tuesday was a day full of excitement and I'm not sure the children stopped talking. They loved sharing their holiday news with their peers, thank you for the emails.
The email account is a great way to share any news or achievements from home. Things you could email are - celebrating religious festivals, something new your child has learnt or a day out you have had.
The children have been busy writing their sentences about their holiday. They have been practising saying their sentence out loud. We are really encouraging independence with writing now and the children are rising to this challenge.
In Maths we have been playing a Guess my Number game. The children have been using what they know about numbers to guess the mystery number. They have really enjoyed this and using all their different number knowledge such as more than, less than, adding, subtracting, doubling and halving to find the number.
In Phonics we had a treasure hunt where the children had to find the correct sound outside. They were in their house teams and they loved the competition. I was very proud of them recognising the sounds that they find most tricky.
Our focus text for the week has been 'Three Billy Goats Gruff'. We acted it out as a class and we had some fabulous actors/actresses taking on the role. They learnt some key story vocabulary. The children then had a go at acting it out both inside and outside and I was so impress with their language. The children have been busy making masks and puppets to support their retelling.
This week we also had a new session called Relax Kids. This is based on children's health and well-being. It involves 7 different stages from active to stretching and mindfulness. It is a fun filled session and is based around happiness and having fun. This will be a weekly session and the children really enjoyed it and I'm sure that will continue.
Have a lovely weekend
