What a lovely, sunny first week back we have had!
This week we looked at the story ‘Lost and Found’ by Oliver Jeffers. It is a story about a boy and a penguin that develop a friendship. The children drew pictures based on the story, then labelled them and wrote sentences about their pictures. The children were interested to find out more about penguins, so we used the internet to find out facts about them. The children learned how to write down these facts.
We learned that Oliver Jeffers uses watercolours to paint his illustrations. We explored watercolour paint and pencils this week, making our own watercolour pictures. We chose certain colours to make a water background, and then added lilies to our paintings.
In maths we have been doing lots of weighing. We are learning to predict whether objects will be heavy or light. We use the balancing scales to see if our predictions are correct. We are learning to use the correct vocabulary of heavy and light when talking about weighing.
As the weather is getting warmer, please remember to send your child’s water bottle to school every day. Also, please send in labelled suncream for your child to apply during the day if needed.
