We have had a fabulous first week in B2! It was lovely to see the children's smiling faces on Monday morning, fresh from the Summer holidays.
We kick started the week introducing our new topic of THE OLYMPICS! The children shared their current knowledge and we made a list of questions that we would like to answer by the end of the topic. We have been talking about the 5 participating continents and finding these on a map of the world. We then used atlas' and IPads to search for each continent.
This half term we are doing Gymnastics in PE, highs and lows. The children loved getting on the apparatus and practising their skills.
In maths we have been working hard learning both addition and subtraction number facts to 20 and then100. We finished the week problem solving, finding the clues to help us decide whether we need to add or takeaway.
We are starting with Traditional Tales and a non-European story in Literacy. Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters is about two sisters who are both beautiful on the outside but only one, Nyasha, is beautiful on the inside. The children have been learning about the two characters, comparing and contrasting and using adjectives to describe them. The children especially enjoyed role-playing parts of the story on the playground which we then filmed.
