Admin Information from the School Office
Although not an exhaustive list hopefully the information below will answer some of your questions and queries. If they are any questions you would like to ask please do not hesitate emailing the school at firstname.lastname@example.org
Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are all automatically entitled to a free school meal, that’s a saving of over £400 a year! There is a choice of three hot meals every day: a meat option, a vegetarian option and a jacket potato. I can confirm that the meals are very tasty and I’m in no doubt that you will hear about Cook Jo and her team in no time at all!
It is really important that you inform our caterers directly, (Herts Catering Limited) if you child has a food allergy or food intolerance. This must be done prior to your child having a school meal, otherwise they will be unable to have a school meal. More information can be found by following this link: https://hcl.co.uk/allergy-overview
We offer milk to our infant children and the cost varies depending on the length of the term. However, families who receive benefits related to free school meals and whose children are 4 years old for the whole of the term, are entitled to free milk but, this must still be ordered.
If you would like milk for your child please can you let us know by 15th July so we can set up orders in time for September. If your child turns 5 years old before 18th December 2020 and is not in receipt of benefit related to free school meals (pupil premium – see below) then you will have to pay for your child’s milk. Payment for this will be set up in September, the cost of milk for the Autumn term is £21.30.
Did you know that you may be able to help increase our school budget? (Pupil Premium)
The Government is giving money to schools to help children from lower income families do their very best. This funding is called ‘Pupil Premium’. If you qualify you can help increase our school budget by £1320.00 simply by registering. We are asking all our families to complete the form as often families are surprised to learn that they can qualify.
If we find your child is eligible for this additional financial support, your child can also get contributions towards the curriculum, extra-curricular e.g. after school clubs and family support that might not otherwise be available to you.
You may be eligible if you are receiving any of the following:
Please click on the link to see if you are eligible
From September, our main method of communicating with you will be by email via a system called Schoolcomms. Messages, such as our weekly newsletter, will go straight to your email address that you provide to us in your admission form. There is no need for you to set anything up your end, other than keeping us updated if you change your email address.
All school related payments, such as school milk and trips, will go through school gateway. If you are new to school gateway you will need to register with them. Some parents have downloaded the app on their phone for ease, just search for “School Gateway” in your app store. Alternatively you can register by going to https://login.schoolgateway.com/0/auth/register. It is important that you use the mobile number and email address that you provided to the school. Once registered you will receive a PIN sent to your mobile and then you can log on to school gateway using your email address and PIN.
Please note you will not be able to register with school gateway until September 2020.
We work with two uniform companies, Beat and Mapac, please see below our uniform list and our uniform suppliers’ leaflet.
But please remember uniform will get scuffed, discoloured, marked, torn, buttons missing and LOST. You must have a healthy perspective on this – ensure everything that you can is labelled, check lost property and resign yourself to a few years of getting incredibly frustrated around this!
A company called Topkidz is contracted to provide our school with a breakfast club, this starts at 7.45am and finishes at 8.45am, in time for the start of the school day. The club is held within the dining room and is available for all children at the infants; from Reception to Year Two. For more information please contact the owner Dupe on 0754 9998435. Dupe will be able to help you with any queries or questions that you may have.
Recent changes to legislation make it clear that schools may not grant any leave of absences during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Our current levels for school attendance are very good and our families and parents are really on board with us on this.
If you do need to take your child out of school please request an absence form from the school office or download from our website to fill in.
If your child is unwell please contact the school by 9:30am at the latest, either by phone or email and please let us know the type of illness. If your child has had diarrhoea or sickness please keep them off school for 48 hours after their last bout of illness to ensure they are completely recovered.
Change of pick up arrangement
We understand that there may be times when there will be a change to the pickup arrangements for your child. If you know this in advance please write down who will be picking up your child on the form or board located in your child’s classroom. If plans change during the day please make contact with the school office by calling or by emails, ideally before 3pm.
Please let us know if your child has any medical conditions. If your child has an inhaler or epipen please request a medical form from the school office to fill in.
