Wow, that was a hectic first week back but we have had so much fun! Have a look at the photos for some great snaps of our time at Rock Up. Unfortunately, although we've done some great art projects this week, Miss Stevens often forgets to take photos as she is so involved in the art itself (sorry!!!)... so you'll just have to look out for the finished pieces around our classroom and the school instead!
We started off our week looking at Bonfire Night and the History behind it. We learnt all about Guy Fawkes and the gunpowder plot. We did some wonderful firework and bonfire art as well. We even managed to fit in writing riddles too. And we spoke about Diwali and why and how people celebrate this festival.
Wednesday was a very active day. A nice walk in to Watford, an hour of climbing and then a walk back to school (in the rain!!) all before a late lunch and then an assembly with a dad of a Reception child who is in the Armed Forces. He brought some of his equipment in and it was all very exciting!
We finished off the week with some writing about our rip to Rock Up and then learning about Remembrance Sunday, why it is so important to remember this day and some beautiful poppy art to go with it all.
Maths was learning about and sequencing days of the week, using timetables and calendars to use the language of today, tomorrow and yesterday.
Next week's learning will be...
Remembrance Sunday and why we remember that day.
Diwali (with a very fun day planned on Wednesday - letter to follow).
Birthdays around the world.
In Maths we will be sequencing months and seasons in the year and odd and even numbers.
