We became scientists this week, investigating water and ice. We discussed where would be the best to put the ice so that it would melt quickly. We also participated in other water and ice related activities, including exploring bubbles and moving ice.
In Science the children were challenged to make a flower of their choice, using only paper, and scissors, with no glue or tape allowed. A selection of the photographs shows how well they did!
Our focus in Literacy was a book called "Oi! Get Off Our Train" The children then thought of other animals who may want to board a train and the reasons why. The children produced some great ideas such as a pink flamingo, escaping from strangers trying to steal her feathers, a tiger to stop people cutting his fur and an ox trying to preserve his horns!
We have continued to revise our set 1 and set 2 sounds in Phonics and in guided Reading this week one of the books led us into a very interesting conversation about the Government and our Prime Minister. This group then challenged themselves to do some Home Learning and find our more about the politics in this country and others!
In Maths this week we have been looking at Time, completing a number of activities where we recorded our results on a chart, setting ourselves goals to then quicken our performance. We also looked at our daily routines and the time each task takes us.
This week we saw lots of activity in our Mud Kitchen, making chocolate cake, rainbow cake and pancakes. The children worked well in the kitchen together, sharing ideas and all of the pots and pans!
