It has been a busy week back at school and the children of O1 have been hard at work. We started by recounting what we had done in the break by drawing and writing about our holidays. It was great to see so many active things that were done including trips to the beach and the cinema.
In our literacy lessons we have looked at the way stories are structured with a beginning, middle and end. The children then came up with their stories maps for the characters they had created previously. The children did well in thinking of the situations and settings and there were some lovely introductions to their story telling.
In maths we have begun to look at the place value of numbers and what they are worth. We used a range of resources to find the tens and units of numbers and then we have been working out how to add two digit numbers together, using what we have learnt.
For our topic sessions the children were looking at Norway and comparing it to other places. The children were fascinated to find out that it stays dark all winter and light for a month in summer. They also found out about the northern lights and how it is formed. The children then made their own pictures using chalks and black paper of what they thought it was like.
