This week we have been voting for our new student council members. We talked about what skills would make a good student council rep. We also looked at voting in our country and what it means to be a democracy. In class all our representatives shared why they thought they would be the best candidate and we got a chance to vote. Congratulations to Isabelle and Alex.B. who are our new school council representatives!
Literacy: In literacy this week we have learnt about the gunpowder plot. We have had a chance to order the story of Guy Fawkes as well as create and write an information leaflet about how and why we celebrate Bonfire night.We have also had a chance to write our own fireworks poems using alliteration and onomatopoeia which were amazing!
Maths: This week we have has Numicon week. We have been exploring how to use Numicon and how to use it to help us with our adding. This has also given us a chance to revise our number bonds and we have had lots of practise working out our sums and trying to notice the patterns between the Numbers.
Topic: This week we had the creative juices flowing as we used our art and dt skills to create our role play area for our new topic: Fire! We have also looked at some facts about the Great Fire of London to get ready for next weeks learning. In phonics this week we have been looking at the suffix y and how in some words we drop the e to add the y. e.g craze=crazy.
