Bushey and Oxhey Infant School

Educating Today's Child for Tomorrow!

Proud to be part of Bushey Primary Education Federation Headteacher: Mrs M Cooper

Week 8: 18th June 2018

This week the children have continued to enjoy learning all about caterpillars. They have been watching carefully as the caterpillars have got bigger and BIGGER!!!!

The children have been working hard getting ready to perform their class assembly next week. On Wednesday we tried lots of different fruits, such as pineapple, mango, melon, apple, banana, strawberry and raspberry. Lots of children tried a new piece of fruit. Some loved them whereas others decided they didn't like them. We were very proud of the children who tried!! We talked about each fruit using adjectives to describe the appearance, texture and taste. The children came up with some interesting words.

In music the children learnt lots of minibeast songs with Miss Caperon. They were very good at learning very tricky tongue twisters songs. They will be performing one of these songs in their class assembly.

In number work we have been working on missing numbers and finding ways to solve a number sentence such as 3 + __ = 10. The children found this tricky at first but are getting much better at using numicon or objects to find the answer.

On Friday the children spent the morning with the year 1 children. They had lots of fun joining them for the morning and play. The teachers commented on how polite and well behaved the children were.

Over the weekend please continue practising your child's words for the assembly as we have another very busy week next week. It is sports week next week and the children have lots of sporty workshops to take part in as well as sports day on Wednesday.

Have a lovely weekend
