We have had a very busy first week back at school. We have been preparing for our class assembly, which takes place next Monday. The children have been practising their words, and we have been creating lots of props for the assembly.
In Literacy this week we read the story ‘How to Catch a Star’. We discussed the various methods the boy used to try to catch a star, then in groups we planned the best way to catch a star. We wrote instructions on the best way to catch a star, and shared our ideas with the class. Some children even created their ideas during active learning, using the construction materials to build ladders and machines to catch the stars.
In Maths we have been looking at repeating patterns. We thought about how we could use instruments to create repeating patterns. We created lots of different repeating patterns using the instruments, and we made sounds using our body parts.
In Phonics this week we have been revising the sounds that we have learned in the first half term. The children did not receive new sounds in their sound books or new tricky words. We would like the children to revise what we have learned so far, so that they are confident to use these sounds and words in both their reading and writing.
The children in OR class have worked very hard all week, and we are really looking forward to sharing our assembly with you next Monday.
