This week in OR class, we brought our topic to an end. In literacy we read a non-fiction book called 'All about me', which looked at our bodies. We talked about our body parts, and how to keep healthy. Some children also chose to make All About Me books in the writing area.
In maths we worked on measuring length and height this week. We measured our heights and looked at our shoe sizes. We also measured items around the classroom, measuring both height and length. Some children used rulers to measure classroom objects, but we also learned that we can use other units of measurement. During the week we measured using cubes, cones, feet and hands.
The children wanted to make masks this week, and so we had to work out the length of string we would need, to make sure the masks fit around our heads. They then used the masks they had made to support their role play.
We have had 3 Star of the Days this week. Jasmine was awarded Star of the Day for working hard to write a sentence. Joseph was very helpful to other children when they wanted to make masks, and taught them the process they had to follow, and so he was also given a Star of the Day award. Lexi also received a Star of the Day award for being extra helpful, and also for enthusiastically attempting lots of measuring activities.
On Friday afternoon Mrs. Cooper arrived with the Golden Book. This time the award was given to Bobby, for fantastic reading of his sounds and tricky words.
We hope you have really enjoyed our topic this half term. We certainly have enjoyed learning about all of the children. We hope you have a lovely half term, and look forward to introducing our new topic to you when we come back.
