In English this week we started by writing out invitations to our grown ups for our stay and learn. We thought about all the information we needed to give you so that you can come. We loved decorating our invites and secretly posting them to you!!!!! After our walk we wrote a recount about our walk to the postbox, we looked at features of a recount such as time connectives (first, next.......) and even adverbs (quickly, carefully). We then used all this learning to sequence the story of Voices in the Park. We sequenced pictures of the story and then wrote a sentence recalling what happened in the story.
In Phonics this week we revisited the sounds 'ou' and 'oy' this week and spent the rest of our Phonics sessions recapping previous sounds - practising sounding out and spelling words with these sounds and then applying these spellings to sentence writing.
In Maths our focus has been using the language of more and less and words that mean the same such as greater, fewer, small and bigger. Using this language we have then compared numbers and used the resources in the classroom to help prove our thinking. We have looked at 1 more and 1 less using resources such as cubes and number lines too.
We also have had lots of fun in our last PE session with Mrs Charles! As well as this we have been doing lots of singing practice with the help of Mrs Caperon for our Harvest assembly next week.
Next week's learning will be...
Our focus text in English will be 'Where's my Teddy?' by Jez Alborough.
Our weeks Phonics will all be recapping the set 2 sounds that we have looked at this term.
In Maths we will be consolidating our learning on using different Maths resources and our understanding of number concepts.
We will be looking at changing seasons for our Science learning, hopefully going on a local area walk to look for signs of Autumn to support this.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend Meerkats and I look forward to seeing you all next week!! Don't forget to practice your singing for Harvest !!!!!!!!
