Bushey and Oxhey Infant School

Educating Today's Child for Tomorrow!

Proud to be part of Bushey Primary Education Federation Headteacher: Mrs M Cooper

Week 6: 21st May 2018

As many of the children watched the Royal Wedding last weekend, we decided to do a prince and princesses theme in school this week. We read the story of Cinderella, and then some children wrote their own stories about princes and princesses.

We learned about features of castles and then designed our own and labelled them. We used our plans to build the castles using junk modelling materials. We investigated ways to make the drawbridge, portcullis and various other features. We decided to make our own class castle too, with many children sharing their ideas to help us make a fantastic castle.

In the outdoor area, we made a castle using large wooden blocks and crates. We then used these props to support our role play, as well as shields and swords that we had made. We also discovered snails in our outdoor area this week. We read a fact book about them, and learned how to look after them. Many of the children showed a real interest in the snails, so after half term we hope to do a mini-beast topic.

Hedgehog Class have been fantastic learners over the last half term! We hope you have an enjoyable and restful half-term, and look forward to seeing you all on Monday June 11th.
