What a fantastic first half term! 7 weeks completed, 28 tired badgers!
This week was as busy as ever; Science week, Harvest Assembly practice, two Harvest Assembly performances and Crazy Hair Day!
We would like to congratulate all the children on their two Harvest Assemblies. They worked very hard learning their own song as well as the very challenging whole school songs. They sat very well for the duration of both assemblies and we are very proud of all the children. Thank you also for the lovely Harvest boxes. They were beautifully decorated and the children were very proud of them and enjoyed talking about why they had brought them in.
On Monday we had an explosive start to the week with a visit from Nitro Nick. He showed us some science experiments and taught us about forces. This then inspired us to conduct our own experiment. We used the ingredient Diet Coke and Mentos and predicted what we thought would happen:
“They are going to fly out” Matilda
“It will get all bubbly when they get in.” Masen
“I think it will explode.” Dorian
“It might mix up.” Sam
“The bubble will pop and it will explode.” Sofia
We then went outside and conducted our experiment. Find out on the picture tab what happened.
The children have been really enjoying learning their sounds and have been writing them on every piece of paper they can find! They are feeling a great sense of pride when they form a letter they have been finding particularly tricky such as ‘a’. Please continue to practise saying and writing these sounds over the holiday.
The mysterious object was revealed to be a MARROW and this week the children have been looking very closely at it while doing observational drawings. They have turned out amazingly well and a few can be found on our photo page.
Onto the next Half Term and based on the children’s interests this term our topic after Half Term will be…
People Who Help Us
Based on our new topic we will be visiting the local Fire Station which you will receive details about after Half Term. The Fire Station have kindly given each child a storybook and an activity pack which the children may like to use over the holiday. We would like to thank Mr Chatfield for helping organise this for our children.
Please be aware that the lunch menu has changed for after half term and the new menu is in their bookbag. Please talk about the new choices with your children to help with transition over to the new menu. Monday 30th November options will be:
Sweet Chilli Chicken Tortilla with Vegetable Rice
Vegetable Stir Fry with Noodles (V)
Jacket Potato with Cheese (V)
Please remember book days have changed from after Half Term will now be collected on Tuesdays and Fridays for Reading Books and Sound books will be collected on Tuesdays.
